New Orleans will always come out on top

New Orleans is a town most known for its Mardi gras celebrations, though there is much more to this place in Louisiana.  New Orleans has one of the most amazing music backgrounds of any city in the world.  The home of jazz, the city has accomplished musicians to bursting and the city beats with a rhythm all its own, and recognizable the world over.

One can’t mention New Orleans, however, without mentioning the floods that took place recently. In many ways, this is shaping the mentality of those who live there. This was a serious problem and many people lost their lives, homes, and businesses. They were simply washed away. It is difficult to think about the disaster the floods truly were. But in many ways, New Orleans is almost the way it is because of the people who rise above whatever happens to them. While it was a city that was shaped by its jazz, food, and other leisure pursuits, it is still the same now. The only difference is that everyone lives with the memory of the floods.

But if you do want to visit, even after the floods from the hurricane, it is possible to do so. Visitors flock to the city to take in famous landmarks, most notably the cemeteries which are a major attraction and historical treasure trove.  The food is earthy, with spice and flavor in a class of its own.  Cajun seasoning, crawfish, and Creole flavor make the pallet sing a song completely unique to the region that bore it.  The look of the city is one of splendor and ambiance.  Beautiful wrought iron accents, ornate architecture, stained glass church windows to rival the most amazing paintings; the city breathes with art and life.

Known for its dark mystique, such things as voodoo and gypsies are a common sight and belief.  You can get your cards read by a fortune teller camped out in front of the church steps if you’d like.  Such luxurious places as the Hotel Monteleone, world renown for its amazing facilities and history, mix in with the Bourbon Street ambiance.  There is more to New Orleans than rich food, music, and revelry; you only have to look long enough to find the heartbeat beneath the cobblestones.  There’s no other city quite like this mix of old southern charm, dark mysterious sensuality, and music all rolled into one. And, when you visit, you will soon learn that the city is shaped by what happened with Hurricane Katrina.
